I was gay even before I could understand what that meant. Kids in kindergarten would ask “why do you talk like that?” I never knew the difference. I’ve always been myself, always with rings on, and ready to take on the world. My brother said something really beautiful recently, his friends saw me walking to the car and said “your brother is strutting!!” And when my brother saw me he said, “I never noticed that you walked any different, I’ve never looked at you differently, you’re just my brother that I look up to.” I hope there comes a day where people don’t have to come out, we can just be.
