#TheLandofMilkandHoney — at a time when I was feeling extremely hopeless about the world, I sat and thought about how I could contribute to change. To sit in my hopelessness felt too much like giving up, and I'm in no way, shape, or form a quitter. So I created this concept to highlight some of the faces that colored this turmoiled country — in their fervor and around their communities. Initially, I looked forward to collaborating with some amazing artists and creating beautiful images. But I didn’t know that I’d be embarking on a journey that would change the way I looked at the world. I didn’t realize that I’d be a witness to intimate memories across generations. I didn’t realize that I’d be picking up family from odd ends of the country. I hadn’t considered that I would be digesting the pain and strife that this country had put so many people of color through, but I also didn’t expect that I’d find my hope in their recollections of resilience and resistance.
 I walk out of this project (figuratively cause we’re def still shooting) feeling hopeful. Hopeful because I’ve seen firsthand the seeds these communities have sown. Hopeful because of the true prismatic face this country fosters. Hopeful because THEY have hope. In sharing this project, I hope that you can, too, find hope in their stories.
