Padang Padang, Bali, a couple decades back. Funnily, now that I am paralyzed, I don’t really miss surfing, I had a great and very satisfying 5 decade run, and still love to watch it, but am happy to be out of the needy and addictive cycle of it all. Art on the other hand, if I find myself unable to make it, well, that’s a deal breaker, life becomes barren and meaningless really quickly. So I suppose the upshot is that while these two passions have dominated my life, one is and has always been infinitely more important than the other.
