How Does a Derm Fix a Pimple... Save for Produce Recs :) Everyone gets the occasional pimple, including germs. We’re also still wearing masks at work, and the maskne struggle is real. Here’s what I do at the first sign of a pimple: 1) Immediate Pimple Patch I prefer the ones with salicylic acid (like from @idewcare ) but the hydrocolloid ones are also helpful. @neutrogena makes them in all different shapes and sizes 2) BP mask Benzoyl peroxide is anti-inflammatory and helps fight acne bacteria. I use a 5% cream or gel. I like effaclar formulation from @larocheposayusa but @target and @cleanandclear also have affordable options. I let the BP dry as a mini-mask 3) Dark Spot/PIH Most small pimples don’t leave real scars, but rather post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. For these spots, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) can help speed up resolution. I like the formulations from @theordinary , @psaskin , @maeloveskincare Remember, the sun keeps darks spot dark. A tinted mineral blocker can help these dark spots heal faster.
