We’re enjoying so many different kinds of culturally authentic foods at @smorgasburg as part of #HispanicHeritageMonth. Today, we’re checking out the local restaurant that has brought Argentinian style barbeque to #SmorgasburgWTC.
@Palenquefood was founded by Viviana Lewis and Luz Angela Sierra, who met in Colombia in the 90s and then again in New York City. In 2011, Palenque was born as a food truck, where they sold delicious arepas at Smorgasburg and other locations. The food truck has been an active part of the community ever since. As one example, for a time in 2012, they served 200 free arepas a day to communities affected by Hurricane Sandy. These delicious arepas can still be found at their location in Brooklyn but at #SmorgasburgWTC, they are known for a bright yellow tent and Argentinian style barbecue on the grill. Here, you can try their ribs, sandwiches and more!
Come enjoy Palenque for yourself along with the other 20+ vendors every Friday until the end of October on Fulton Street from 11am-6pm.
