So, when I was invited to join the @aaknopf family, I said yes not only because of the general honor of joining this prestigious press (Alfred Knopf was the first person to publish a poetry collection by Langston Hughes), but also because of Knopf’s history of championing risqué courageous writers—and fighting anyone, especially local and federal governments, when they tried to prevent change from occurring within publishing.
