In 2018 I met a distinguished gentleman at @villaflorengadin a wonderful bed & breakfast in a tiny Swiss village. He liked Pepper (who at 4 months old was tearing the whole place down) & we struck up a friendship. It turned out that not only was Miki the founder of the chicissimo & super sleek contemporary art gallery @vonbartha but he also had a giant collection of Transylvannian antiques that he insisted I see. When I came to visit him, I was so taken by the 18th & 19th c ceramics, embroideries & textiles that we ended up creating an entire fashion & homeware collection inspired by his massive vault of gems. That launched 2 years ago (right smack in the middle of Covid) but Miki is back again this time with a full scale exhibit of his collection at Basel’s prestigious @kbhgeiger foundation. He asked us to be part of this exhibit and to create a wild entry room that could house the products we made. The result is a wacky colorful wonderland made of paper flowers and wooden lattice archways- inspired by Transylvannian forest chapels. It houses our first creations plus a whole new batch that we made in honor of this exhibit and are shoppable now. It all leads into Miki’s super room of deep tradition. Super thanks to Miki, @schreibergott of @kbhgeiger @stephanie_fani_claudia for such a wonderful opportunity plus the 70 person 7 course meal we had on Thursday night in Basel, @joanntanstudio for her creativity on our exhibit & @peppertheitalianpug for brokering my friendship with Miki in the 1st place ❤️
