One of the first things I do with my client’s is a pretty in depth questionnaire to discover what they need from the space, how they live, and who they are. You know the mad scientist (Dr. Finklestein) in ‘The nightmare before Christmas’ when he opens his brain to scratch it? That’s what I feel like I’m trying to do with each client (at the risk of sounding a bit macabre) Each space I design is a reflection of each home owner. I take inspiration from them and what inspires them, but try never to copy. It needs to be honest and come from a place of truth and reflection. The client needs to feel at home in the space, like it’s always something they never knew they needed. Haha!
