I wanted to provide more context about the cultural and traditional touches on my wedding day❤️ The Chinese tea ceremony symbolizes the union of two families — it’s not lost on us how truly lucky we are to have both sets of healthy parents (& my younger brother!) present on our wedding day and we wanted to make sure this custom was carried out in its entirety. The night before the wedding, as a ritual local to Hong Kong, where I’m from originally, my mom combed my hair 10 times while repeating her blessings for me and Eddie: Longevity, prosperity, health and a life time of happiness. 🥰 The next day, I wore my red and gold embroidered wedding gown (#群褂) that I got from #冠南華, a traditional wedding dress atelier in Hong Kong. The silver- and gold-threaded embroidery is hand-stitched & sewn and took hundreds of hours to finish. My mom then accessorized me with the same earrings she wore on her wedding day and family heirlooms including a jade pendant necklace and a pearl ring passed down from my grandmas for good luck.🥹We received their blessings at the end of the tea service—using tea from my dad’s tea farm, no less! ❤️🧧🍵 。 Photos by @photosantucci Wedding planner @christianaalessia FNC Agency HMUA @nelli_made #chineseteaceremony
