Reposted from @fromato4z Here are some changes that I've made to my clay mask routine. (This recipe can be found in my previous reel.)
π§πΏββοΈ I no longer rinse my hair with water prior to applying the clay mix. I donβt believe that this step is necessary for applying a clay or ayurvedic mask and Iβve not found any adverse effects from doing so.
π§πΏββοΈ I leave my clay masks in for 20-40 minutes instead of 3-5 minutes. I find that covering my hair for the length of time that the mask is on my hair helps the clay not to dry out and therefore makes it easier to wash out. It also allows the herbs to penetrate my strands.
π§πΏββοΈ Applying my clay in a downward motion and working it through individual sections makes a HUGE difference in terms of how my texture holds after my hair dries. Washing my hair in two strand twists is great, but my hair looks and responds differently with this new method.
π§πΏββοΈ I rinse my hair in a downward direction, as well. This prevents my hair from knotting and therefore makes it much easier for me to detangle my hair. I twist my hair back up under the shower stream and then moisturize my hair when I get out.
Have you ever tried applying your clays or masks to dry hair? What did you think?
