We recently acquired 60 linear feet of vintage scenic wall paneling based on the paintings from the Imperial Villa at Boscotrecase, from our amazing friends @hollerandsquall . Shown here is the original room in Gallery 167 at the @metmuseum along with details of the recreated work. These stunning pieces will play a key role in a hotel project in development in San Diego set to open its doors next summer.
Description courtesy of The Met: "You’re standing in front of the so-called Black Room. A bedroom at the imperial Villa of Boscotrecase. The sumptuous country estate belonged to Agrippa, friend of the Emperor Augusta. This rectangular room originally gave way to a terrace, overlooking the sea. Seemingly weightless columns support a pavilion roof with jewel like decorations. Notice how this structure occupies very little space within the pictorial plane and creates almost no sense of depth. Once burnished to a high polish, these walls must appeared magical when illuminated by lamps at night."
