Sewing doesn’t have to be hard work, there are lots of tips and tricks that can help give disabled sewists an edge in creating beautiful works of art with fabric! 📌 Make sure to save this post for later, and share with a friend who may find this helpful. Let’s get started 👉 1. Use a sewing machine with an automatic needle threader, which can make threading the needle much easier for people with vision impairments or fine motor skill limitations. 2. Consider using a sewing machine with a larger work area or an extension table, which can provide more space for maneuvering fabric and can be easier on the wrists and shoulders. 3. Choose lightweight fabrics and use a fabric stabilizer to make cutting and sewing easier. 4. Use a longer seam allowance to allow for adjustments and make it easier to sew straight lines. 5. Consider using a thimble or finger cots to make pushing the needle through fabric easier on the fingers. 6. Use a magnifying glass or lamp with a magnifying lens to make it easier to see small details. 7. Use a seam ripper with a large handle or a stiletto tool to make unpicking mistakes easier. Did we miss any? Educate us! We would love to better understand what our sewists need within the community.
