Today we celebrate FREEDOM and the day the last of the enslaved were free🖤 As we celebrate today, let’s use the holiday to educate ourselves on the true history of America. We must push past the discomfort of this tragic past and through that be better informed of how our actions or lack of action today prolongs the effects of slavery, Jim Crow, colonization and apartheid on Black communities all over the world. Remember the end of slavery was not the end. It was simply the beginning of a new struggle and one that lingers on till this day.
