Curious to know your opinion. Watching movies where a lack of consent wasn’t called out often glorified it. I thought that it was romantic when Christian finally kissed Andy in The Devil Wears Prada - even though she was drunk and kept saying no, I thought it was a sign of true love in fairytales where princes would kiss princesses in their sleep, and I thought it was funny when Gloria forced herself on Jeremy in Wedding Crashers even when he turned it down. It wasn’t funny when a man hauled me out of a club, unconscious and into a hotel bed at 21. On @thetodayshow we talked about @consentlabs campaign to introduce a new classification for films (C) - Lack of Consent. I for one wish this was around earlier because pop culture has normalised non-consensual sexual interactions and we have an opportunity here to change conversations. We weren’t even talking about consent when I was in school, which explains many of the experiences I and many others have had. What do you think? If you’re for it, @consentlabs have a pledge you can sign. Hand in hand with affirmative consent laws, I’m so here for the change 👏🏾 #consent #consentlaws #todayshow
