AL.I’m (@aldotcomnews) named me one of Alabama's 2022 entertainers of the year. It’s a long a diverse list of great people. I hold in high regard, even higher than the EMMY nom for @itsnotneutral) because one of the larger metrics by which we were measured was not by our professional achievement but by our contributions back to the state of Alabama.
Alabama is the land that is often forgotten and the good people that exist within it or even more invisible. but it is those people who are the red blood cells of change within the state.
Anything that I can do to bring attention, support, or money to the state of Alabama is a worthwhile endeavor.
This is part of the reason why I try to support Alabama based charities as much as a can. Not a knock on the good work being Done and other places not often we'll work with those charities here and there, but if we are talking about a true investment of time and money then as much as I can I try to go Alabama.
My love for reading and literacy started during my time in radio. when then first grade teacher (@dst9) invited me some of the other radio DJ's to her class for Dr Seuss day or Reading day or whatever it’s called. She has since left the classroom to focus solely on literacy with her non profit @iseemeinc and placing books with black and brown authors into black and brown hands.
The @stairbirmingham program and their work in literacy is superb as well.
Workshops Inc is locked in on workforce development for people with disabilities & other barriers. The DUBS baseball acadamey (Developmental Urban Baseball Schools) has long fought to maintain some degree of equal within the world of baseball.
