When the first Tria opened in Philadelphia, it marketed itself as a casual wine bar with fine dining-level service. But while the restaurant itself publicly portrayed a friendly, approachable vibe, internally and behind the scenes, 27 former staff members who worked at Tria from between 2004 and 2022 say owner Jon Myerow allegedly created a work environment defined by angry outbursts, sexualized comments, and workplace relationships that made some staffers uncomfortable. Eater Philly spent more than a year speaking to former servers, bartenders, office employees, interns, and managers who worked at Tria over the course of its 18 years in the Philadelphia restaurant scene; many of them described negative experiences, enough that some haven’t worked in a restaurant since. “I haven't even tried to get back into the restaurant industry,” one former intern says. “I refuse.” Tap the link in our bio to read the full investigation.
