No signals can travel faster than light (Castillo), 2020. - XIV Bienal FEMSA: Inestimable azar; 2020 Curated by @danielgarzausabiaga & @victor_castor_palacios At Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita, Pátzcuaro, Mexico. @bienalfemsa - Fireworks 18 m in diamater x 20 m high x 2.5 m depth / The idea of this sculpture was to produce a piece in which they would work with some technique of manifestation traditionally used in the state of Michoacan, in which “El día Muertos” (day of the Dead) is a very important date and in which it is celebrated with candles, music, flowers and pyrotechnics. Select this technique (pyrotechnics) for the ephemeral, plastic and aesthetic possibilities and for the possibility of representing symbols in a very clear way, besides the sense of amazement that fire causes. The symbols that are represented in this sculpture traditionally called "castle" are some of those that I usually use in my work and which allude to contemporary human, his time and his customs, some others are more ancient symbols, such as the cross, the skull and fire, some others clearly refer to the 5 figures known as "Plato's Solids" alluding to the importance that geometry has had in the development of thought and society in general. - for the full video, visit https://vimeo.com/489092558 . . . #gabrielrico #galeriaomr #perrotin
