Anindilyakwa is an internationally significant site for nesting marine turtles, especially the critically endangered hawksbill turtle and endangered green turtle. 🐢 Sadly, ocean plastics can have a huge impact on these populations with research showing that plastic and large objects on nesting sites deter turtles from coming ashore or nesting. During our Sea Shepherd Australia - Marine Debris Campaign remote clean-up campaign, our team saw numerous turtle tracks where they had made their way up to the beach to nest, negotiating their way around and sometimes through plastic on the beach. This is a powerful reminder of just how vital it is that we continue to fight against plastic pollution. ✊
