👀 A little look at Groundswell the UK’s Regenerative Agriculture festival, also known as Glastonbury for farmers! This panel was special all female storytellers chaired by Sheila Dillon of @bbcfoodprog On “The Power of Storytelling” with Abbie & Dora @farmerama_radio Olivia @ssaw.collective . Stories are a powerful tool for change, they shift cultural norms. We spoke about the urgent stories within the food and farming space that need to be told, from gender equality, the myth of the “farmers wife” and to racial and land justice “what a farmer looks like”. Great storytelling challenges the status quo.
đź‘€ We need stories to reframe internal questions that shift paradigms within movements, but we also spoke about how we reach new audiences and connect people to food and farming who might not immediately find a connection. For me its all about humanising our food system, remembering people grow our food because the industrialised model rid the human story. Language must be invitational and not fuelled by fear, we want to feel connected to each not angered and scared. From growing on your window sill, to the clothes you buy and the restaurants you eat, these are all windows on the food and farming system.
