Did you know that you can converse with your baby through music? Similar to when you reply to their babbles, when your child makes a musical sound, you can imitate it or sing or hum a few different notes back to them. Then wait for them to respond. This teaches your baby about two-way communication, says Joy Jackson, a music teacher and arts, education, and enrichment consultant. 🎵 You can also use instruments to practice the rhythm and flow of conversation. Here are a few tips for initiating a musical exchange with a drum (or an empty box serving as one): 🥁Tap your hands on the drum to demonstrate for your baby how to make a sound. 😄Initiate a simple pattern of soft and loud beats. Then stop and invite your child to try it by looking at them and smiling. ✋If they don't drum a reply, encourage them by gently taking their hand and tapping it on the drum. 🎶Repeat the musical pattern, then pause again. Continue the back-and-forth, making eye contact with your baby. This kind of give-and-take interaction also gives your child experience with taking turns. #Lovevery #ArtsEducation #ParentingTips #ChildDevelopment
