Hailed by The New Yorker as “the coolest person in New York,” Fred Brathwaite, a.k.a. Fab Five Freddy, was a permanent fixture in the eighties downtown scene, deeply immersed in the creative storm that was taking place in art, music and culture. In an interview with Revolt, he spoke candidly about his friendship with Jean-Michel: “We were just good buddies, having fun, laughing a lot, chasing girls, all the stuff that young dudes do.
