My friends and I used to have this terrible joke years ago about how the daily fail et al would use the term “relaxed and happy” as an insult. To them, it was a backward compliment insinuating that the woman (normally on the beach) was relaxed to the point that she wasn’t thinking about how her body looked. And that her body- a normal human body- doing its thing at the beach- probably wasn’t looking as “flattering” as it could be. This quote would always be accompanied with photos, zooming in on what the publication perceived as flaws. What was once a fear of mine, nowadays I want nothing more. To be relaxed and happy so much so that my body doesn’t come into the equation. To just enjoy the beach, the day, and the moment without worrying about what it’s looking like.
