Caquetoire Guest Chair No. 1 “This body of work explores 2 techniques I use in my practice, hand painted plaster and a plaster/pulp mixture. Both techniques use plaster and gypsum but vary in their applications. Each process is quite long due to the amount of time it takes for plaster to cure before it can be sanded and finished. All my pieces begin with a welded metal or wooden structure, some of which are made from existing/rest materials that each have a story to them. This allows me to re-imagine each piece into something poetic and unique. The base is then slowly built up by a complex plaster and pulp mixture then allowed to cure for a few weeks. After curing, each piece is then carefully sanded and finished to form the texture and color on the surface. Sometimes I take what the material gives me rather than force it to do what I want. That is quite reflective of my work, various pieces are perfectly smooth while others tend to feel hand crafted and have more individuality.” On view now at @objective.gallery 📸: @andrewlymanworld #collectibledesign #functionalart #handmade #contemporaryfurniture #modern #modernfurniture #interiordesign #atlantafurniture #luxuryfurniture #highcraft #designerfurniture #collectiblefurniture #brentwarr #collectibleart #contemporaryart #designermaker #plasterfurniture
