Before we gain entry into the heart (at Hathor’s temple), we need to do more dirty work. We need to go through a death and we do this at Abydos, the temple dedicated to great Osiris, who was shredded into 14 pieces by his brother Seth. Micro deaths are happening all around us every day, though perhaps less dramatic than Osiris’, often no less painful: the end of relationships, the death of childhood, a cat, of our innocence, the ending of anything really. The more comfortable we get with the death process in this lifetime, the more ease and grace we will bring to our final death, when we transform from this physical state back into pure spirit. Allowing things to pass naturally also frees the heart. It feels counterintuitive but when you surrender and let die what must end, you are actually opening the heart gate. When you do this with mercy and honor in the process you then create more space for miraculous rebirths— just like Osiris who was resurrected in all his glory by Isis. This powerful temple also holds a special gift out back, buried under hundreds of feet of sand: another pre-dynastic Atlantean temple called Osirion with no bells and whistles, just massive hunks of prehistoric granite stone pulsating with the energy and memories of a light civilization. So powerful to visit that space and see the first flower of life symbol on record, faintly gleaming on the ancient stone’s faces. And so much gratitude for this group of warriors who have the courage to face what needs to come down and to hold it with honor.
