Someone at this event asked me if I enjoy going to these parties. There is so much I love about beauty events and I pinch myself every time I am invited! I love the inclusive energy, the way people let their freak flag fly and express themselves through makeup and fashion, and I love being part of the community. The other side to my answer is that it can be difficult to connect with people on a real level at events because it is loud and so much is going on. I struggle with small talk, which is why you can usually find me in a corner talking to someone about their struggles or goals in life. It can be an overstimulating environment for a HSP (highly sensitive person) with sensory sensitivity. I can feel drained for hours when I get home and need breath work or other tools to decompress and be able to fall asleep. I truly count my lucky stars for my career and these experiences, and I feel it's important to share the Instagram vs. reality of it all.
