Dear Khori, Whoa. Plot twist! Did you ever think you’d be here? You’d always thought you weren’t capable of this one. You had a lot of fear, and you still do but I’m proud of you. I’m proud of you for feeling the fear and doing it anyway. I’m proud of you for taking chances. I’m proud of you for honoring your feelings of uncertainty, but not letting them stop you from trying new things. Sometimes life brings you to places you’d never expect. It’s scary. But if your past is any indication, you’ll be so happy you surrendered to the moment and trusted that God has already given you all the tools you need. I know you know you’ll have to work harder than ever before. You will have A LOT to learn. You’ve never done anything like this before and it will challenge you in ways you can’t imagine. Just trust yourself. Lean on your family and friends when you get discouraged. Let your tribe remind you that you are capable, even when it doesn’t feel like it. You are joining a legacy of women that are MIGHTY. And as a black woman, even more so. What an honor it is to follow in their footsteps. Enjoy this ride.
