It’s nice to see the sun. I needed it today after a conference that triggered me. As a parent of a child who is neurodivergent I intimately understand the challenges that come with the day to day. Sometimes it’s amazing and sometimes it’s heavy. Often as parents of children who experience the world differently we prioritise ourselves last. We often lack help from a tribe or a community due to it all being too challenging. Holidays are often a forgotten luxury and communication in a relationship can become strained due to the lack of sleep that becomes a normal part of living. Today a client sought advice about whether or not separation was the right thing to do with a handful of children experiencing a number of issues. I sent them away to seek assistance from a number of professionals and to consider separation as a last resort. It is easy to feel like your marriage is failing when you are overwhelmed. Sometimes separating is the right thing to do. Sometimes we just need some assistance to get some respite and to help us set the ground rules for communication. Please if you are struggling know that it’s ok to call for help.Please know that you are not alone. Please know it’s ok to feel like everything isn’t perfect when in fact it’s far from perfect. My heart is heavy today, please know I am here to provide space for any of you feeling like you just need a moment to grieve and to just express emotion without judgement or concern.
