🚦🚘🚗Introducing the artists in *Traffic* - a video exhibition @luva_gallery open TOMORROW 5-9pm (Thursday) for one night only! @jemimaburrill @elliot.dodd @roxmangatt @mattmahonypage @addpanda Jemima Burrill is an artist and filmmaker. Through a variety of media, Burrill’s work aims to reveal predisposed boundaries of the domestic space, elevating the mundane into the significant. Burrill describes her constant preoccupation with inappropriate behaviour, humourous and disturbing; always pushing the boundaries of her environments using a solitary protagonist. Elliot Dodd works with the surfaces and techniques of the global-techno-macho-man. Sculptural objects, drawings, and moving images work to hijack languages of desire, confidence and authority into a new floppy, composite structure. Romeo Roxman Gatt is a multidisciplinary artist who explores sexuality, identity, gender, love and consumption within his practice. For a while now, the artist has been working with themes of humanising and interacting with consumer objects, making the inanimate iconic and fetishised. He is also interested in documenting and archiving trans and queer experiences and has recently launched a new project called Rosa Kwir. This project revolves around alternative notions of masculinity, bringing together stories of Maltese trans men, non-binary & masculine of centre people. Matt Mahony-Page is a U.K. based artist, currently situated in South East, Kent. Working with video and performance his work utilises forms of physical labour resulting in final actions or rather 'meeting points' between the artist and material. Often anticlimactic yet inevitable, carrying intended complications. Zhu Tian’s practice is primarily centred on installation, performance, sound and literature. Often bordering the absurd, Zhu’s sculptures and performances convey a mixture of humour and provocativeness. Even the materials she uses waiver between seductive and off-putting. She presents works embodying discourse around the themes of freedom and power relations – the mechanisms and strategies of power in relation to cultural and gender identity, and contemporary existential crises.
