tooo excited that this upcoming season, i’ll be home and farming full time with @starroutefarm and @iridescent.earth.collective . since the onset of the pandemic, i’ve been reflecting a ton about food, about the systems we subscribe to, about the world we’d rather build, and the justice that underlies it all. 🥬🥬🥬 . it’s wild that this season i’ll get to live out values of food sovereignty and mutual aid full time, and working alongside an amazing crew who center a radical politic and critique of a capitalist food system. i’m refusing the ways in which people chase clout and use queerness as marketing and for self-service and looking at which queerness has always been a radical community-based political identity. i’m refusing to invest in formal institutions that push a status quo, an incrementalist strategy that entraps the most marginalized within systems and structures of violence. i’m refusing a life that is only struggle, and choosing one that is also of healing and joy yet still working towards a pursuit of justice. . i’ve been grappling with this thought in which this move feels escapist, but the reality is that beautiful scenery aside, the work of star route is to subvert the dominant system and create the systems of care and community that are guided by the logics and premises of food sovereignty, of abolition, and of anti-capitalism/imperialism. not to escape, but to create. to nurture. to grow. 🧑🏽‍🌾 . pls donate to iridescent earth collective’s fundraiser (link in their bio). every little bit helps as they incubate with star route this season!!!
