No shower, no make up, no problem when @carly.navarrete is the photographer 😍🤗✨ Cutesie/corny captions aside, these photos are beautiful and such a gift. In my very (very!) limited experience, I’ve noticed there’s a relentlessness to parenthood that can trick us into going-going-going- Doing these photos, and looking at them now, feels to me like a ✨p a u s e✨ I had spent the drive to & from this lovely spot thinking about what I was gonna say at the 4th annual BLG 5k (1st annual Seattle edition!) happening the next morning. That brought me right back to 2019 when Gabe had to miss her 5k because she was in the hospital with an infection. She asked me to speak in her place as she delegated tasks from the hospital bed with a strength, resolve and of course sense of humor that belied the depth of her grief. She was discharged a few hours before my flight back to Seattle so we grabbed lunch. A few bites of BLT in the sunshine. The briefest mention of dying slowly. A look that said it all. A stroll thru the nearby lululemon. The softest fabrics between finger tips. Chuckling over Justin’s fave shorts (the ones without liners —sorry, jg 🤪😂). A ride to the airport. A lingering hug. abby 💔 And yet, here I was in this golden light, totally consumed by the desire to make baby gabe smile and maybe even laugh if I was lucky. And oh how I feel —oh how I *am*— the luckiest person alive to be the one trying to make you laugh, my sweet baby gabe. Going-going- p a u s e ✨
