If you are snorkeling and happen to run into a shark these are some very BASIC tips on how to have a safer encounter. Many people have the first reaction to run as fast as possible but you won’t ever out-swim a shark and then you look like prey. Not splashing, holding your ground and making eye contact is great to let the shark know you are NOT PREY. If the shark continues to approach after this making sure you stretch out your fins to create space and if they keep coming in use your hand and push down hard on the top of their head to create space. **The contact with the shark is the last resort** But is still something that will help you with the rare chance this occurs.
