Like educators we know and love, my dad (an educator, too) understands just how much representation matters. But then this happened. I told him that Makayla’s mom shared she’d gotten the book for her birthday (🎉🙌🏽) . And I could tell he was so proud. But then. I told him she saw the pages AND the illustrations of him (@wenfancy !) and pointed “Da Da”. And then it was all over for my dad😭🤫. Yes, it matters. A LOT.
