NOW OPEN: “Dakota Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe” presents over 40 years of the artist’s career. Howe (1915–1983) advocated for art that was simultaneously modern and rooted in Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux) culture. Organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (@smithsoniannmai) and Portland Art Museum and accompanied by an exhibition catalogue. On view through May 14.
