14,000 students, 8 Recipients, 1 first generation DACA Latina heart made proud. I am incredibly honored to have been selected to be on the BEST Board at Minnesota State University, Mankato. It makes my heart so happy to know that my leadership in the community not only had an impact but created a maverick legacy that can be carried on by others like me who were once afraid but willing and ready to create change. Though I have to admit, it hasn’t all been flowers and sunny days. This type of stuff doesn’t come without late nights, tears, imposter syndrome, and discomfort. However, my biggest lesson here has been that it’s the tough stuff that really pushes you to be finer, wiser, confident. I still remember having moments where I almost talked myself out of joining organizations, turned away from rooms full of opportunities and ran away from leadership positions that deep down I knew I could handle. The extensive interviews were truly brutal but I quickly learned that locking myself in my comfort zone wasn’t going to get me anywhere. Here’s to the 3 years that I dedicated to the @studenteventsteam as an Educational Entertainment chair and as a Marketing and Social Media chair, the two years that I was an official @collegepossible community leader: helping students navigate the tough culture shocking campus that is MSU, the 1 wonderful year of Public Relations Society of America @prssanational , the couple wonderful years of the @mnsulatinxstudentunion where I now sit as the President and all the other experiences in between that shaped me into the woman I am today.
