Did you know that Montessori-style shelves are not just for toddlers? You can add one to your baby’s play area when they’re between 8 and 11 months old, if you have the space. Here are some expert how-to tips:
👉 Make sure that it’s low to the ground, accessible to your baby, secured to a wall, and sturdy enough for them to use for support to pull up to stand.
✨Start by putting just two or three items on the shelf, adding more as your child grows.
👉 At this stage, trays and baskets can be cumbersome; instead, place each plaything directly on the shelf to invite your baby to explore them freely.
✨ Leave lots of space around each object so that your child can clearly differentiate between them.
👉 Demonstrate for your baby how to return playthings to the shelf to begin laying the groundwork for a sense of order and organization.
