I feel really blessed to know that what I do now is an extension of what brought me joy as a child. When I was younger I’d fill my notebooks with drawings of myself and my friends. It was all my personal escape. Fast forward to now, I get to make a living drawing women that are representative of my community. It’s a full circle moment knowing in someways I get to hold onto those parts of little me. Thank you to @sheamoisture for giving me the opportunity to speak on this panel for this years Essence Fest.
