Woola has been found!!!
After feeling defeated yesterday we went and did our usual route at dawn out of obligation more than thinking we would actually see her. Depressed and worried sick for Woola, I sat in my car by the street she was seen running up at 8am two days before.
I saw what looked like a cat or possibly Woola walk at the top of the hill in my rearview mirror so I got out and started running. I saw a cat but no Woola. Then I heard barking that sounded so familiar. I started to walk towards it and it kept getting louder. Hopeful, I started running towards the last house. I could tell the barking was coming from the forest next to the house so I ran back to my car to grab June and let Dustin know who was parked on another street. I drove back and with the help of the owner of the house we got to a deeper part of the forest. I sat on the ground with June and we started howling. I could hear a faint whimpering that I hoped was Woola. At that time Dustin got there and I handed him June. I started crawling on my stomach up towards a blackberry bush and fern calling out all of Woola’s favorite words like woobear, breakfast, treats. Then I saw her little head poke up and immediately started crying. I slowly held my hand out so she could smell it and she started to lick it. I told Dustin to hand me June so she could see her sister. Woola started to creep towards me cautiously and I was able to grab her. Instant relief and a flood of emotions came to D and I.
We just want to thank everyone who shared our posts on here and Facebook, who suggested things we could do to get the word out, who helped search for her, who said lovely things and told us uplifting stories of their pet getting lost and then found, to the policeman who spent his 12 hours night shifts looking for her, to the businesses who posted our flyers, our friends who printed more flyers, the neighbors who searched around their properties in the areas she was last seen, to our family, neighbors and friends who didn’t loose hope and to our house sitter who Woola ran away from that spent her days and evenings looking for her alongside us. We are forever grateful to this amazing community.
