A Curtiss C-46A-45-CU Commando...a memory from the past... from the drug running days of Carlos Lehder, when he worked for the Medellin Cartel of which Pablo Escobar was the leader. The real story about the actual wreck seems to be less interesting than people’s imaginations have made it out to be. Basically a british man who worked for the cartel for a short while, named ‘British Andy’ bought the WWII era plane, liked to have a drink or two while flying, miscalculated the start of the runway (built by the cartel on Norman’s Cay) and ended up crashing in the shallows near Norman’s Cay cut, back in 15 November, 1980.
