🖤 Meet the first three @blackrocksenegal artists of 2022-2023! 🖤 Visiting us from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Gouled Ahmed (@xawaashking)’s work explores remembrance and belonging through lens of photography and textiles. While at Black Rock, Gouled plans to experiment with various mediums and new forms of adornment inspired by the local weaving and textile communities in Senegal. Visiting us from Los Angeles, USA, Sophia Nahli Allison (@yagurlsophia) is an Academy award nominated filmmaker and photographer primarily working in self-portraiture. While at Black Rock, Sophia will be focusing on her self-portrait series which explores a reimagining of flight for black women. Visiting us from New York, USA, Khalif T. Thompson (@khaliftahir) is a painter, printmaker and papermaker. While at Black Rock, Khalif is looking forward to embarking on a new painting project that will be inspired by their experience of Senegal.
