Set my alarm for 11:55pm on Sunday night so I could register for Canyons 100k right when registration opened at midnight on Monday 😂🤓 turns out you’re less likely to overthink/second guess yourself when you’re still half asleep and just wanna get the heck back to full sleep asap 🤪💃 Canyons is a golden ticket race covering many of the same trails as western states (...in reverse 📈😁). It was on one particularly awkward & waddly walk-run-walk during my second trimester of pregnancy last year that I started dreaming of winning western states someday 😅 looking back, this seems like a particularly audacious dream to have when I was running barely a few minutes without walking. And yet, at the time, it didn’t feel audacious at all—it just felt possible and fun to dream about. So I did and do. 🙃 Coincidentally (or is it?! 🤪), baby gabe took his first few “unsupported” steps yesterday. There’s a metaphor in there somewhere that I’m sure will become clear to me if I just listen to Taylor Swift a few more hundred thousand times on repeat 😂 In the meantime, here’s to big dreams and baby steps! 😻💃✨
