A juvenile Hoffman’s two-toed sloth plays in an enclosure during rehabilitation at the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica.
Photographer @anniemariemusselman was at the Jaguar Rescue Center working on a personal project. Her work is inspired by the human-animal connection. I get into “the zone”—it's where all my cares and worries wash away,” @anniemariemusselman says of how she feels when she photographs animals. “I dramatically feel an animal’s ancient awareness of this moment and this life, and I'm reminded of my true self, and I feel at peace. I see that humans have strayed from ourselves in the modern world, where we have gained much knowledge and lost much of our connection to nature. I also feel almost no fear when I'm with animals, which can either be good or bad depending on the situation, so I've learned to have more boundaries when I'm with them.”
