DEEP is proud to announce a partnership with Rewilding Apennines — starting with a week of exploration and immersive rewilding practice in the heart of Italy’s Central Apennine region, seeking intimacy with ecology through a careful observation and restorative intervention of these wild ecosystems. Rewinding is a progressive strategy for environmental restoration. It is about letting nature take care of itself, enabling natural processes to shape land and see, repair damaged ecosystems, and restore degraded landscapes. Through rewilding, wildlife’s natural rhythms create wilder, more biodiverse habitats. Observing roe and red deer shortly after mating season, setting camera traps to capture the movements of wild cats as their territory increases, tracking carcases to observe predator and scavenger behaviour as trophic cascades evolve in real time, removing kilometres of abandoned barbed wire to allow for the free movement of animals. Rewilding is an incredibly sophisticated ecological approach for ecosystems which have undergone anthropocentric transformation. It is a technique which allows a new evolution to form. It doesn’t seek a return to nature, but rather a rebalancing of human values and a belief in the value of nature, a belief in the value of intimacy with ecology. 🪲🪲🪲 IMPACT @rewildingapennines VIDEO @machineoperated AUDIO @rbt69
