So excited to share that we are putting out two children’s books with A24 (out now on the A24 store)! While writing Everything Everywhere, I would sometimes need to take a break from the overly complicated script and give my brain a chance to work on something smaller. These stories emerged from those necessary breaks, and I’m so grateful that A24 was excited to help me bring them to life. 24 Minutes to Bedtime is a nonlinear 4 dimensional bedtime story about Winston, a child who isn't ready to go to sleep and uses a time machine to try to avoid bedtime at all costs. Illustrated by Felicia Chiao @feliciachiao, every gorgeous page represents a minute counting down to bedtime, the reader must follow Winston as he jumps back and forth through time (and the book) in a series of paradoxical time loops as he tries to avoid his parents on his mission to never sleep again. Not for the faint of heart, it's a puzzle of a book that will hopefully bewilder and delight with every time you read through. I'll Get to The Bottom of This is a simple story of an unrelenting dog detective trying to solve the mystery of who caused the 15-car pile up that has trapped him and many others in a tunnel. Illustrated by Sean Lewis @seanislewis, the Detective's vindictive journey to find the guilty culprit eventually hurls him down a rabbit hole of cosmic proportions, leading him finally to a humbling conclusion about life, the universe, and the nature of culpability. but its for the kids! both these books are experiments, birthed from my love of children's books. meant for the kid who is ready to leap into grown up complexity and the adult who longs to dip their toes back into childhood wonder, I hope all you baby grownups enjoy these books with your grown up babies.
