Beyond the fantasy, is the fantasy that never enveloped a chance to be adored, hyped and valued. When I stepped foot on that runway, I was thinking of every time I’ve been overlooked, overshadowed, been asked to lose weight by the people I LOVE, racist attacks, my internalised colourism and questioning authenticity as an Australian woman. It all came to mind. But speaking to the media about WHY this impact changes my life and others is nurturing wounds from societal neglect.
