ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXTRAVAGANZA: Money and its values A closer look @jonathan_meese (*1970 Tokyo) Ants are known as tireless and industrious insects that, among other things, help to eagerly mix the soil of the forest. Jonathan Meese, self-proclaimed ant of art, has been thoroughly digging up the soil of his profession for years. While he describes and proclaims the dictatorship of art with numerous artistic tools, he distances himself from everything that in his eyes is without a future anyway: cultivated isms and the rampant ego addiction that not only influence social thought and action, politics or religion, but also guide them - yet embitter them. Meese himself remains anything but bitter in his concerns by comparison. Day after day, he works on the "Gesamtkunstwerk Deutschland" that replaces all ideologies: art as an unelectable power without peer pressure, censorship or morality. With his radical tendencies, he repeatedly causes scepticism, yet his oeuvre reveals one thing above all: the honest desire to play (which the artistic freedom legitimises).
