I kept this penny with me for 13 years before I gave it to my wife ( then girlfriend) because it meant the world to me. It was a reminder that at one point I not only felt worthless, I was. I tried to take my life several times during the last few years before committing to change and getting my life together. And although years later I would attempt a few more times to take my life, it’s been 8 years since the last serious situation. I’ve found refuge in my wife, comforts in my kids, and joy in sneakers. Pride in being able to help others. This penny is still with my wife and I.
