🪡 Finding your local SEWIST to MEND or ALTER your clothes 🧵 If you’ve been Googling, but you don’t know who to work with, ask your favorite vintage shop or dealer who has been in the area for a minute. 💛 I bet they have someone they know, or like to work with, or have tabs on who in the community does mending and alternations work, even if it’s a side hustle. I never had to find someone to work on my clothes until I moved to Iowa because growing up my Nanny did it all for me — and if you knew our family, she probably worked on your clothes, too. 🧵 But since I’ve moved, I’ve always gotten these kinds of recommendations from vintage shop friends. Even though mending and altering clothes is not as prominent as it once was, I BET your community has someone doing this work.
