More from “The Nan Movie” The terribly handsome, charming and entertaining Parker Sawyers plays the American GI, Walter who both Nan and her sister Nell fall in love. At the end of the movie we meet Nell and Walter in their 80’s and, as you’d expect from a comedy like this, there’s an hilarious twist. Ageing Parker was great fun, mainly because he’s great fun... but also a pain as he’s so youthful in appearance and in his bearing. He’s never going to be a convincing 80yr old, but hey, it’s a comedy and the important thing is that you recognised him right away, so it becomes more about telling the story and delivering a punchline than about sweating too much over accuracy. What also didn’t help is that this makeup was delayed due to casting Parker and I got screwed on the schedule. A break in the schedule that would have allowed me to travel home and finish this got eaten up by shooting overruns and instead I had to sculpt this on the makeup bus in-between doing Catherine’s makeup every day. I then shipped the sculpt back to the UK where the guys back at the workshop broke it down on to cores and, in the brief couple of days I did get away, I got it detailed and finished up.
