Finished newbie Bootcamp today and WOW. If I thought the respect and admiration I had for this legacy of women couldn’t grow any bigger, I was wrong. This is HARD work. I knew it would be but I couldn’t imagine just how hard until being in the room. Many of my close friends have been Rockettes over the years and after getting a taste of what it’s like to do this work, my respect for them has grown more than I thought possible. Today we practiced the famous Wooden Solider fall and as I watched some of the women take a stab at it for the first time I started to well up with tears. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was feeling as I’ve cried ALOT already this week 😂😂 but as I watched them LITERALLY support each other, and fight to keep one another safe and secure, it hit me. It’s magical to watch humans hold each other up. And I’ve certainly been held up so much this week by all the incredible people in our rehearsal room so far, former and current Rockette friends who’ve reached out with an encouraging word, my family, friends and framily. My imposter syndrome is roaring and I’m no where near where I need and want to be, but I know the line won’t fail me. 90 years of legacy is behind us 18 new women joining this year! So as we start the first official day tomorrow, I’m excited to stand on the line, lean on the line, love on the line, be the greatest support I know how to be on the line, and give it the best I have. I can only assume it’s been there all these years since.
