Join us tomorrow, August 5th, from 6pm to 9pm for Gallery Night at LnS to view “In the Company of Women: At Large,” which features a site-specific installation by Kerry Phillips (@tontalovesme) titled "Evidence of a previous presence (new mountains seen from no fixed position)." As stated by Phillips with regards to the work, “My work is about memory and sourcing or collecting materials and objects that elicit a visceral connection or memory response. The work in the exhibition is a continuation of an exploration of the potential of carpet, as a material, through sculpture, 2D works, and large abstract ‘painting’ installations, even though I deeply loathe carpet based on very strong childhood memories of the one at my home. As with much of my work, this installation will be built on site and for the most part will not exist after the exhibition, though the materials will get reused for future projects.” “In the Company of Women: At Large,” is curated by Dainy Tapia (@art.seen.365) and features 17 Miami-based artists to showcase the contributions of women within the arts through a localized lens. The exhibition is accompanied by an LnS Gallery Journal, featuring “The Feminine Landscape,” a powerful essay written by Maritza Lacayo ( @maritzamelania ), Assistant Curator at the Perez Art Museum Miami. “In the Company of Women: at Large,” will be on view through September 3, 2022.
